Featured Profile OMNI Graduate

Kanwal Deo is a new immigrant to Canada, originally a Registered Nurse from India. After arriving in Canada, she studied at a local ESL (English as a Second Language) college to practice English, but found that she had no idea how to earn her RN status in Canada.

This is her story:

“Before coming to OMNI College I was studying English at ….college. At that time I was very disappointed and sad because I had no idea of how or what to do for my nursing review. I was new in Canada and was not yet familiar with the CRNBC exam. Luckily, in the end of 2004, I met an RN at St. Mary’s Hospital – she told me that OMNI College graduates have had a very high success rate in the CRNBC exam. This was what made me decide to come to OMNI.

I had such a great experience with OMNI College. In my opinion, OMNI College is like the “Temple” for nursing education where Louise (my instructor) is like a “God” for foreign trained nurses. In only six months she was able to teach us 4 years worth of study. All of the staff at the College are also very friendly and very helpful for the students too. The atmosphere of the College is just like our own home.

The most important thing I gained from OMNI College is my self confidence to speak English. I would like to say to other students that if you want success in your life you must come to OMNI College. Being an international student you may have some language problems but at OMNI, you will learn English so that it feels just like your own language. At OMNI College, you will definitely become successful in your nursing exam as well as your English tests.”
