Canadian RN Exam Preparation Program
Overview
In order to become a Registered Nurse (RN) in British Columbia (BC),
nurses are required to pass the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination
(CRNE). The examination measures the competencies required of entry-level
nurses for safe and effective practice.
OMNI College’s Canadian RN Exam Preparation
Course is custom-designed to help you pass the exam. Success on this
exam requires more than just reviewing content tested on the exam.
It also entails knowing how to effectively make nursing judgments.
Our test prep course not only helps students develop these necessary
skills, it also includes workshops that teach strategies for approaching
test questions as well as a review of common medical/nursing terminology
used in North America.
Who the Program is for
The Canadian RN Exam Preparation Program was designed for nurse graduates
in Canada who are planning to write the CRNE. Or, you may have already
written the exam but have not been successful - OMNI’s Canadian
RN Exam Preparation Program is the right program for you. Following
the completion of this program, you will be more prepared to take the
RN exam and achieve a passing grade*.
What you can expect to achieve
- A passing grade on the CRNE*
- Greater knowledge, skills and confidence
- Gainful employment as an RN
- Improved quality of life
*Note: successful completion of this program does not guarantee
a passing grade on the RN Licensure Exam.
Our Instructors
Our instructors bring a wealth of education and experience into the classroom.
They themselves are Canadian Registered Nurses with a combined total
of 125 years of experience working in hospitals and care facilities
in Canada. Our instructional staff and supervisors are regarded as
the most valuable assets to the College as they are ultimately responsible
for the quality of education of our students, leading them to practice
safe and job-ready skills for the workplace. OMNI’s instructors
have consistently gained the respect and admiration of both the students
as well as fellow staff members.
Program Outline
The Canadian RN Exam Preparation Program covers topics such as:
- An introduction to the RN Exam
- The Nurse-Client Relationship
- Health Promotion
- Illness/Injury Prevention
- Curative/Supportive Care
- Rehabilitative Care
- Professional Practice
Subjects within the Program are presented in a modular format, which
can be presented in any sequence following the introductory module. This
unique system will enable you to join in the Program within a few weeks,
rather than having to wait for the next semester to begin.
During the last part of the Program, students undergo 6 weeks of an
intensive supervised self-study and will write a simulation of the CRNE
examination. This is a key component to the Program as it is designed
to further strengthen your ability to achieve a passing grade on CRNE,
and ultimately becoming licensed as a Registered Nurse in Canada.

***6 months Paid Work Experience
Your studies at OMNI College will be complete after the Self-Study and
CRNE Exam Simulation, but your skills will continue to develop and your
learning process will carry on during a 6 months paid work experience.
This is an essential component of the Program as you will be given the
opportunity to gain pratical experience at one of Vancouver’s hospitals
or health care facilities. With the difference in nursing procedures
across each country, this work placement offers invaluable experience
specific to nursing in a North American health care environment.
